OFBJP – DFW Chapter : Don’t Get Fueled by Fake News

As a result of abrogation of Article 370 by the Government of India in Kashmir, various fake news stories, images and videos are circulating on the internet and has turned social media into a virtual battlefield. What’s surprising is that some big, powerful and international media houses are involved in peddling these lies, probably because controversies like these show a profound ripple effect and gets viewed more than anything else.

As per the reports, Pakistan is using POK region to create these fake images and videos that look like as if they occurred on the Indian Side. Such media is then being edited and shared by some ‘Big’ media houses and then are being re-shared on WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.

Shubo Dasgupta, Co-President of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) – Dallas Fort Worth Chapter, said that the world has seen political manipulation and civil unrest around the globe as a result of fake news and videos in the past, and same seems to be the attempt in the case of Kashmir, and so before sharing any story, we must make every effort to fact-check news with reliable secondary and tertiary sources.

PM Modi’s commitment to the welfare and development of the People of India, and of Kashmir, in particular, is known to all and has been applauded by many world leaders at various international events.

Ghanshyam Kakadia, another member and Co-President of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) – Dallas Fort Worth Chapter, said that as a part of the International Community in the US, we must protect ourselves from falling for any hoax – Don’t get fueled by fake news and Don’t spread one!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address an estimated crowd of 50,000 at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, Sept. 22. Hosted by the Texas India Forum, the community summit titled ‘Howdy, Modi!‘ will include a cultural program and an address by Modi.
